Are you worried about memory loss or cognitive decline?

Neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's often go undetected until they have already progressed. The Aromha Brain Health Test gives you the knowledge to act early, and with it some peace of mind and a sense of control over what comes next.

It often starts quietly

  • It can start with not knowing whether memory lapses or occasional forgetfulness are a natural part of aging, or something else.

  • It can include feeling anxious about cognitive decline, and fearing it may affect your independence and quality of life.

  • And it can mean not knowing where to turn, navigating a complex maze of possibilities with limited treatment options.

Your journey to better brain health starts here

Built on two decades of olfactory research at Mass General and Harvard

The Aromha Brain Health Test was developed by Dr. Mark Albers, a Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor of Neurology, and his team at Massachusetts General Hospital.

The test is a screen for olfactory loss. Per published literature, olfactory dysfunction has been associated with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia, and the literature describes changes in olfactory function before some cognitive symptoms appear in certain populations.

The ABHT is designed to make that screening easier to reach. It is a non-invasive, at-home smell test paired with a straightforward web application.

The benefits of finding out early

Gain peace of mind, feel in control of your cognitive health, and have a clear path forward.

  • Psychosocial benefits

Not knowing can be its own burden. A screening result gives you something concrete to bring to your physician, so the conversation starts from information rather than worry. The test screens for olfactory loss; what that means for you is a conversation for you and your clinician.

  • Early intervention

Lifestyle factors such as physical activity, sleep and diet are widely studied in the context of brain health. Talk with your physician about what is right for you.

  • Early-stage clinical trials

Most clinical trials focus on late-stage Alzheimer's management, largely because patients early in progression are hard to identify and recruit.

  • Advance planning

Knowing early makes it easier to plan, whether for finances, asset management or assisted care. Early action matters.

Because the cost of inaction is too significant

  • There are 50 million people currently living with dementia, projected to increase to 60 million by 2025, 78 million by 2030 and 152 million by 2050.
  • Every three seconds, someone in the world develops dementia.
  • The lifetime risk for Alzheimer's at age 45 is 1 in 5 for women and 1 in 10 for men.
  • Over 90% of people with mild cognitive impairment have not received a diagnosis.
